Released 1965 or 1966?

I'm watching the DVD and the copyright date in the opening credits clearly says 1966 - where does the 1965 release date derive from?

According to the DVD featurette on the making of FASTER PUSSYCAT, KILL KILL called "Go, Pussycat, Go", that appears on the Arrow UK Region 2 DVD release of the film, the film was made and shot in 1965 but released in drive in theatres in the US, in early 1966 where it did disapointing box office, because the film was way ahead of it's time(liberated violent females) and there was no female nudity like in other Russ Meyer films( the shower scenes in the film, were tastefully shot with barely no nudity)

All I know is at some point when it achieved cult status this film was constantly being re-released on double bills. Remember the days between new movies when even "A" tier theatres ren releases for a week or two as a double bill?

Yes, I really do. Back in the 1960's, I saw double bills of DR. NO & FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE, HORROR OF DRACULA & CURSE OF FRANKENSTEIN, A FISTFUL OF DOLLARS & FOR A FEW DOLLARS MORE and OUR MAN FLINT & IN LIKE FLINT that surprisingly did much better at the box offices during their theatrical re-releases than some of the new theatrical releases back then. But thanks to home video and Cable TV today, there is no more reasons for theaters to re-release box office hits in US cinemas. The last official theatrical re-release was the first Spiderman movie with the first Men In Black film that Sony/Columbia released in theaters back in 2002 and that bombed at the box office for the aforementioned reason.
