That doesn't help those of us in the U.S., unfortunately.

Dear Fools,

This DVD will never be released in the U.S. in your lifetime. But, never fear -- you'll be able to view it with me over and over and over again, forever, and ever and ever, in Hell.

Cordially,
Dr. Terror

(Seriously, I thought maybe a little reverse psychology was in order. Maybe somebody will release it now)

*LOL* Had me goin' there...

I hope you're right on the reverse psychology!

I just made a beautiful dvd copy for myself today off of a vhs tape from an AMC viewing several years back.

I've tried that type of thing and it never looks as good as a "real" dvd. Even the digital movies available "On Demand" look better than my VHS tapes. Hopefully, "House of Horrors" will appear "On Demand" and we can burn a dvd off of that...

reply

Why don't you just buy a multi-region DVD player?

reply

With most of the Amicus library now out on DVD, it seems a shame this has been so ignored in the Region 1 area (especially considering the cast). And the non-Amicus TALES THAT WITNESS MADNESS has also been overlooked.

reply

I have it on a multi-zone DVD (if I dont recall wrong its a Zone 0)

Original of course, not bootleg or copy.

Paramount owns the US distribution rights to Dr. Terror's House of Horrors. Until they see fit to release or license it, the only recourse for fans in this country are bootleg copies of the UK/EU releases. I found a fairly good anamorphic widescreen port of what appears to be a German dvd. While I would love to see an official US version, anything less than a Bluray release at this point would be a disappointment. The Skull has already been released on BD by Paramount, so why not Dr. Terror? If it were not for this picture, it is highly unlikely the Amicus films which followed would ever have been produced.

I was lucky enough to see this at a revival theatre back in the 1990s. Even better they had a vault print! The color was rich and strong and the picture crystal clear. Scared me silly...and I was an adult! Saw it a few months later on TV. It was terrible! Faded color and a pan and scan print. Hopefully if they ever DO release it in DVD they get a vault print to copy from.
