Seen First Time On Big Screen?
I consider myself fortunate to have first viewed Doctor Zhivago during a revival at a movie theatre back in 1975.
It is easy to understand how those who have only viewed this masterpiece on television may be, sorry to say, bored with it.
Doctor Zhivago was shown in a series of a free cinema classics at Shea's Buffalo(NY) (one night only) in the early 1990's.
The theatre, with a capacity of 2500 seats, was PACKED.
As the opening credits were being shown, when the panel read: DAVID LEAN'S PRODUCTION OF DOCTOR ZHIVAGO, the theatre erupted in loud cheers, whoops & whistles.
Fortunately, everyone was quiet after that!
