Let me explain, Peter as Lawrence of Arabia, Julie as Lara - they are both blonde, blue eyes etc... Anybody else noticed that? I remember watching Lawrence and just noticed that, but i mean only the physical apereance.
I know what you mean, I thought the same thing just now when i finished it. They look like twins and I thought they were actually. Sometimes when she looked really attractive being so very similar to Peter'O Tool it left my mind a bit confused, I just saw peter'o tool in the desert.
yes i also noticed the striking resemblance, especially when she wrapped the scarf around her head in the beginning of the movie. It definitely seemed like Sir David Lean was alluding to Lawrence of Arabia.
lol thats so funny. i had a hard time keeping at straight face when i watched LOA cz Peter looks to damn pretty!!! who is it that said that had he looked any prettier the movie would've been Florence of Arabia?
the thing with Julie is that she's a woman and it suits her, although im not a fan of that generic blonde hair color of the 60s.
Finally!! I find people who agree with me. I have been saynig the same thing for years and years! I think this reveals something about David Lean what it is im not sure hehe .. They are both very beautiful people, but to me not in a sexual way.
Blue eyes, blond hair and NO color in the lips. I've always wondered about the lack of color in the lips on both of them. Lean have the make up dept. do this or do both coincidentally have this trait ? Personally, I believe its a make up job. I also wonder if after Lean saw the resemblance between he and her (LOA and DZ) if he didn't say 'try the lip make up for sh*ts and giggles' and lo and behold - they could pass for twins ! At least two of the three (or more) could shed some light on this... has this question never been asked (wonders to self) ??
I've always thought this as well. O'Toole turned down the role of Zhivago. I assume that had O'Toole taken it, Christie would have been nixed because of the resemblance.
They both have that square jaw and long straight nose and high cheekbones--really classic faces. I remember when not long after this a woman journalist interviewing Julie C. said, "it is a face you might see on the prow of an ancient sailing ship. Be born with a profile like that and you could rule the world."
I still remember the scene where Omar Sharif's character denied Anthony Quinn's character in Lawrence of Arabia that he did not love Lawrence near the end and I thought about this scene when reading the threads because it seems that Omar not only changed scenery with both films he also changed his blondes as well. I think Omar in the two David Lean movies shows men that you love your men and women with great passion and not threaten your masculinity.
I have always thought that, too, for years and years. I wondered if they might be related to each other, somewhere along the line.
I once jotted down a list of people who (to me) look like other people (mostly actors, but some other well known people as well), and it was a lot of fun. I often note the resemblances when watching movies and wonder if other people have seen the same similarities. I may have even at one point started a thread for this topic on the eBay movie board, not sure. It would be an interesting topic on IMDb, I think!
So Zhivago dates Lara because she's a female Lawrence in the same way George Constanza dates Tracey Nelson because she looks like Jerry Seinfeld (a Sherry)? I'm speechless, completely without speech.

I think this is one of my favorite comments of all time. xD

Some directors have a "thing" for actors that look a certain way. For example, if you noticed, Leonardo DiCaprio in Titanic kind of looked like an older version of Eddie Furlong in T2, and Hitchcock always had ice blondes in his movies. I wouldn't be surprised if Lean picked Christie precisely because she had that same look as O'Toole.
