terrific film

This is a great movie. Ann-Margaret looked incredible. Leads and supporting cast excellent. Some great New Orleans location shots. The only thing that didn't work well is the 1930s setting wasn't terribly consistent (hairstyles, some clothes, etc.). I was also a little skeptical that in such a high stakes game among insiders in this small world of high stakes players, the other players agree the dealer will be the Kid's best friend/father figure/mentor? Uh, I don't think they'd go for that; they would probably have wanted a neutral non-player like Lady Fingers to be the primary dealer.

A little commented upon scene that sticks with me: Ann Margret cutting the jigsaw pieces to make them fit

Plus:
Edward G saying "Son, all you pay is the looking price. Lessons are extra."
