Card Game at Beginning of Film - man with a button

In the card game near the beginning of the movie are a bunch of guys (including Steve McQueen) sitting around playing poker. Noticibly one of the card players has a tiny button on his coat, I think, red and blue. It looked but a political button but I couldn't tell from watching this movie on TV. Has anyone noticed this? Anyone know what the button is? Thanks in advance . . .

I noticed that right away, too. I can't help on what it would be other than to also assume political.

Someone should increase the size, blow it up, and ascertain what it represents . . . it may have something to do with this great story . . .

Just watched the film.

The badge is round. The top half is red while the bottom half is blue.

The name "Roosevelt" appears in white letters across the red half, and below that, the name "Garner" appears in white letters across the blue half.

John Nance Garner was Roosevelt's running mate for the 1932 and 1936 federal elections, so the film must be set in either of those years.

What!!! No Gravy???

I think you've got it! Your eyesight is better than mine. Since this is a Depression-era film, the presence of a Roosevelt Garner button would make sense, a detail adding to verisimilitude. Thanks for your insight.
