Spanish guitar music

I just saw Cat BAllou again for the first time in about 20 years, and so I logged on here to the imdb to read the trivia and found this:

<<When filming the scene where Kid Shaleen takes a bath and dons his costume, director Elliot Silverstein had all actions timed to the beat of a metronome, its pace increasing when Shaleen takes his guns. He planned to have the scene scored with Spanish guitars following this beat, but the producer was adamantly opposed to anything Spanish in a Western. In the end electric, guitars were used.>>

Okay, to say that Spanish music has no place in a WEstern is freakin' ridiculous, since the first cowboys on what we now call the US Southwest were vaqueros.

But then- the bath scene DOES play out with Spanish guitar music playing in the background!

It IS really strange that the producer didn't want Spanish music in a Western, and yet it is a Spanish guitar that is used in these scenes! The music is actually quite beautiful in these scenes.

what is even More Interesting is, that if you were to Look at the structure of a Lot of rock guitar solos, they have a Lot in common with spanish Guitar music.

Just seems like a strange distinction to make... if you were to play most rock guitar solos on an acoustic guitar... it would be pretty hard to hear any real difference.
