horses name
we have not been able to find the name of the horse. someone please help.

shareI've always wondered this so you just made me go searching. cowboypal.com has a great list of horses names from film, outlaws and Generals. He's listed as Smokey. I've always thought this was a facinating horse to watch. He looks bored, indignant, and had to put up with a great trick rider bouncing and hanging off the sides and underneath during all the drunken riding scenes. A good all around actor! That list is also worth the read.

Actually in his acceptance speech Marvin said "Part of this belongs to a horse over in the valley" (meaning the San Fernando Valley in L.A). In the commentary track on the CAT BALLOU DVD his co-stars Dewayne Hickman and Michael Callan mention several times that Marvin didn't acknowledge any of his fellow actors in the film - just the horse.
