Robert Ryan as General Grey
Robert Ryan was great in this film. He had the right level of gravitas . He seemed to corner the market in playing generals in big budget 60s war movies. He also starred in The Longest Day, Anzio and The Dirty Dozen. Once you say" an all star cast" you know that Ryan is going to be shown giving orders, looking at maps and waiting for battle reports.
