The narrator needs to study up on World War II history

At the beginning of the movie, an unseen narrator briefly explains the military strategic situation in December 1944 in the western European theater of operations. His military history is not well-detailed

Narrator: "North is Montgomery's Eighth Army. South is Patton's Third Army"

While technically correct, this information was incomplete. The narrator should have said that, North is Montgomery's 21st Army Group. (British 21st Army Group consisted of the British 8th Army and the Canadian 1st Army). He should have also said that, south is Bradley's 12th Army Group. (American 12th Army Group consisted of Patton's 3rd Army, Hodges' 1st Army, and 9th Army which was briefly loaned out to 21st Army Group)

Narrator: In the Ardennes are several weary American divisions.

The main division that was attacked and destroyed was the new 106th Infantry "Golden Lions" Division. The division was fresh and inexperienced. Now the 44th and the 9th divisions, were in the region, still recuperating after being bled white in the late September-early December 1944 fighting in the horrendous Hurtgen Forest campaign.

He reads what they write for him.

It sounded like William Conrad, but I didn't see his name in the credits.

The Eighth Army was in Italy. Montgomery left it nearly a year before. The 21st Army Group consisted of the British Second Army and the First Canadian Army. During the Bulge, the US Ninth Army and US First Army were placed under 21st Army Group command.

The narrator was definitely William Conrad.
"We're fighting for this woman's honor, which is more than she ever did."

You mean it wasn't Morgan Freeman!? GOD!

No, honestly (I lied before) I pegged (or catchered) the narrator as Lawn {be-fore-Lorne} Greene. Until you said that. They do sound similar.
