American Movie Channel massacre

Why Bother ?

Question:
Why does the American Movie Channel bother with its film preservations anyway? It is quite obvious that once they
put the classic movie on the air, they'll just throw in a bunch of commercials right in the middle of the key scenes! A
commercial in the middle of an action scene is about as welcome as an unexpected phone call during sexual intercouse.

When AMC isn't busy with constantly interupting the movie, they are equally adept at gouging out half the story just to
meet their alotted time slots. It is the equivalent to reviving the patient just so you can remove his vital organs.

Give us a break AMC and stop butchering movies like "Battle of the Bulge" by cutting out half the story. Is it any wonder
that this movie gets so many bad reviews here.

I completely agree. This is not a great film by any means, and it is not good history, but the restored version that is available now on DVD is much, much better, and makes much more sense, than those chopped up versions that are shown on television. In fact, I can say that I had never really seen the movie before I bought the DVD, even though I watched it many times on TV over the years.

It's really disgusting how the TV channels (AMC and even the History Channel) butchered the hell out of this film.;(

I know it's not the best war film nor the most historically accurate, but it's still enjoyable. I was shocked myself when I saw the DVD release of BOTB. How much time was laid to waste when the TV companies got their hands on this? Terrible, terrible, terrible...

AMC butchers everything. I no longer bother watching anything on the channel.

I used to love AMC. But when they changed format, I received an e-mail asking what I thought of their new format, apparently pleased what they felt was an advancement in their programming.

I told them that now they were just like all the other channels....

TMC is our last refuge....

You think the treatment of Battle of the Bulge is bad? Watch the opening credits of the Magnificent Seven next time on AMC. The theme music during the opening credits is cut in half!

That's butchery!!!

AMC has sucked since it changed formats several years ago. American Movie Classics, my butt!! And I've let 'em know about my displeasure, too.

7 years later, AMC is even worse. Or so I've seen on other people's TVs because it doesn't go on in my home. Only TCM here.
