A specific time and place
Most episodes of The Wild Wild West would happen in rather vague settings not specified closely.
On Sat. Aug. 03-2024 I saw the episode "The Night of the Golden Cobra" from September 23, 1966.
Much of the action happens in a palace built by an Indian Maharaja in the Indian Territory in the USA for some reason. And there is one shot of the outside of the palace.
It is probably an optical effect including a matte painting. In the lower left is Kirk's Rock at Vasquez Rocks, and beyond it a rocky hill rises above, with a squarish palace at the top. It seems to be the color of gold or brass, and has a central dome.
The location is described as "Oklahoma" although in that time it was known as "The Indian Territory" where many Indian tribes were relocated to by the US government. West is summoned by Col. Stanton Mayo, an Indian commissioner. And later the palace or "haunted Castle" of the Maharaja of Rampur is described as being in the 100 square mile reservation of the Pawnee tribe, and sitting upon a pool of oil.
There are oil fields in much of Oklahoma so there could be some oil in the lands of the Pawnee in Oklahoma, about 20 miles northwest of Tulsa and about 30 miles northeast of Oklahoma city.
The Pawnee mostly lived in Nebraska, but moved to the Indian Territory in 1875. The President is US Grant in all 4 seasons of The Wild Wild West, and Grant's administration ended March 4, 1877, putting the episode in 1875-1877 - if it happened in real history.
