Joy of joys, the very first series of Public Eye, originally broadcast by ABC in the UK in 1965 is due to be released in a DVD box set on the 10th of May 2004.

For those of us who saw this fabulous series as kids it is manna from heaven - or pretty close anyway . . .

Sadly Series 1-3 are incomplete so they're starting with Series 4 which does survive intact. However the 2nd ever episode is included as an 'extra' together with a clip which is all that survives from another (3rd series) episode.

I've really enjoyed series 4-6 on DVD. I also hope they can find lost copies of the earlier abc episodes, as was done to complete a series 3 release of The Power Game on disc.

Five episodes from series 1-3 are now available. The one with Philip Madoc and Carole Ann Ford is a cracker!

Just got it the other day and watched the 1st episode, Nobody kills Santa Claus.
