Season 3 Ep 15

The Anti-Matter Man

John Robinson and Don West are transported onto a strange new world where their evil opposites exist and plan to change places with them. Will, The Robot and a reluctant Dr. Smith set out to find and help the real Don and John only to be pursued by a evil John Robinson.

Season 3 Ep 16

Target: Earth

Landing on a planet some shapeless beings duplicate the Robinsons and take the Jupiter 2 with the intent of conquering Earth. Will gets aboard to stop them.

Both had the same premise - evil versions of the Robinsons. The ending of The Anti-Matter Man had a preview of the next episode which featured, yep, *another* evil John Robinson and Don West. Irwin Allen didn't even try to disguise this by changing the order of the episodes.

Both of those eps were recently on ME TV and I was surprised they would put those two with somewhat similar plots back to back. I guess the creative juices were running low by the end of season 3 which is surprising given how many different writers have credits on LIS. To be fair, over the same 3 year period ST-TOS had a few similar type of eps (duplicate Kirks) but they were smart enough not to run them back to back.

A couple of episodes of Voyage To The Bottom of The Sea had Captain Crane or Admiral Nelson under evil influence (similar to LOS episodes). Saved hiring actors to play the bad guys!

Flight Into The Future & The Haunted Lighthouse as well. Both eps had entities who could project vivid hallucinations. They too were run back to back.

They're separated by an episode, but, in the second season, you had "Trip Through the Robot," featuring a really BIG version of robot, followed two weeks later by "The Mechanical Men," featuring really SMALL versions of the robot.

They really dropped the ball not featuring an evil Will Robinson. As evidenced by The Twilight Zone episode "It's a Good Life," Billy Mumy played a great evil brat.
