Barbara Pepper

Have been revisiting this series on Youtube after many, many years. Always
fun to watch. Took note recently that Barbara's Pepper's last appearance
as Doris was in February of '68. I had always assumed she was playing the
role up until the final months of the fourth year ('68-'69). I didn't
realize there was such a long gap between Pepper and when Fran Ryan took
over. I'm guessing the producers kept the role open to Pepper should her
health improve. There are tons of episodes where Doris is simply out of
town or not shown at all. I guess the producers were very loyal to Ms.
Pepper during her health troubles. That said, I also noticed that during
"The Agriculural Student", Mr. Ziffel is painted as a bachelor, having
shown up to take Teri (Francine York) out on a date!

Being the surreal off-the-wall show that this was, I always thought it would have been funny if the other characters noticed the change is Dorris's appearance, at least if Oliver would have.

I loved it when "Lisa" would read the opening credits and say something like "What is an executive producer" and "Oliver" would say "What"
