Suggestive innuendos on Green Acres?

Maybe I just have a dirty mind, but here are just a couple sound suggestive to ME! LOL

At a town meeing, Mr. Kimbal was taking notes out loud and Oliver says "Do it quitely to yourself!!" and Kimbal replies, "Why would I want to do it quitely to myself?" and Oliver looks at him surprised.

Another is when Oliver is changing pants, Lisa turns her head, and Oliver says, "Did you see my cumberbun?" and Lisa replies, "How could I, I had my head turned!"

Question your prejudices.

LOL Yeah - they seem to enjoy pressing the envelope all right.

hmmm Wonder if "pressing the envelope" might be considered another innuendo by those with dirty minds? - I wouldn't know - but just a thought.

Mellow Salutations!

lol I know what a cumberbun is, but it just sounded suggestive the way he said it :)

I wonder if Hank Kimble is has alzheimers. I can't laugh when babbles on and on... well, actually, I CAN laugh... no that's not true, I sort of chuckle... well, chuckle is isn't the right word to describe it... more like gafaw... if I understand that word correctly... what a weird word 'gafaw!'... sort of reminds me of another word I used last week... or was it last month... no, I believe it was last week...

There is also the matter of Ralph's confusing sexuality...

I realize this is almost a year later, but I just had to say that I loved that post stargazer1701-1! Just started watching Green Acres again on MeTV and you did a great Hank Kimble - totally nailed it!

reply

stargazer, yes, you nailled Hank Kimball!

I can't remember any other sitcom character who could carry on as many funny conversations with himself as Alvy Moore's county extension agent did.

Casting of Moore for that role deserved an Emmy!

Stupid!?! I never called you stupid! To call you stupid would be an insult to stupid people!

In the early tv episodes, it sounds like Hank Kimball is simply trying to avoid answering Douglas's questions truthfully and not wanting to say something untrue instead of being absent minded.

In later episodes, he's clearly absent-minded.

However, after hearing the first episodes of the original radio series (even predating The Beverly Hillbillies), the Mr. Kimball character on that version was also clearly absent-minded.

And all these years, we all thought Green Acres was a spin-off of Petticoat Juncction and a Paul Henning creation.

But actualy, it predates both Petticoat Junction and The Beverly Hillbillies by over a decade and is a creation of Jay Sommers.

or so it seems.

What's confusing about Ralph's sexuality? She's VERY into dudes.

When Oliver tells Lisa To heck with the audobon society.

I'll never forget this exchange in the episode in which Lisa's mother comes to visit.

Lisa: You're going to sleep on the couch, and Mother is going to sleep in the bedroom with me.

Oliver: I see. The same arrangement we had on our honeymoon.

Mother: Oh! Are you the boy who went on the honeymoon with us?

My favorite line was the flashback of when Oliver met Lisa during World War II.

Some German soldiers said "Heil Hitler!" and Lisa replied "Yeah the heil with Hitler!". I thought that was pretty bold considering the time the show was made.

I can also remember an episode of the Beverly Hillbillies where Granny was feuding with her nemesis Elverna Bradshaw. Jed said "Now Granny. It's not right to feud. I want you to speak peace to Elverna." Granny said, "Alright Jed" and then yelled "Peace on you Elverna!".

reply

OMG I thought I was the ONLY one who caught that line from Granny. I pointed it out to someone and they told me I was reading to much into it and that it wasn't intentional.

I remember once too on Green Acres when they were trying to make Oliver King of Hooterville he was trying to explain he could NOT be a King, and they all started yelling "HEIL HEIL!" And he finally says, "Oh Heil!"

Yes, I make spelling mistakes often as a result of using IMDB on mobile devices :)

And I love your sig. It's CLASSIC IMDB that someone ignores your whole post and topic and points out ONE spelling mistake.

Apparantly I'm the "stupidest person on earth" b/c I spelled "friend" as "frEInd".
