What happened???? Last two episodes really screwed the pooch!

Watching the whole series on and off on Hula for the last few months, and WTF happened??

The last two episodes are just failed pilots for REALLY bad sitcoms with a tenuous connection to the Douglas's. The Green Acres characters/stories etc. are completely insignificant in the last two episodes.

Great series which deserved to go out with some dignity, but that wasn't in the cards.

My guess is that they knew they wouldn't be coming back for a 7th season, so the network used the remaining shows as pilots for potential sitcoms since there was no point in developing the Green Acres storylines/characters any further. I'm going to disagree with you about the "Hawaiian Honeymoon" episode. I think it could have been a cute show if it had been given a chance. Don Porter was a well established TV veteran (Ann Southern Show, Gidget) and the supporting cast was very good. Apparently another network (NBC) thought the father/daughter in Hawaii premise was a good one. They launched "The Little People" with Brian Keith and Shelley Fabares a year later with a similar premise; although they were doctors rather than hotel managers.

"The Ex-Secretary" on the other hand, was a bland sitcom idea, and the overbearing boss/goofy secretary idea had already been done very thoroughly by Lucille Ball in "The Lucy Show". Interesting to see Emmeline Henry from "I Dream Of Jeannie" though.

I just saw the ex secretary episode and thought it was funny.
