'Down With Wizards and Witches!'

Does anyone remember that episode where Gidget thought she was cursed by the lady who stole her surfboard? At dinner, her Dad convinced her that it was all in her mind. When he raised his glass and said that line, the drink spilled all over his clothes. Still to this day I have no clue how the spill happened. Then Gidget said- "But I had a spoon in it!", which left me even more confused. Did the bottom of the glass fall?

Hiya, I don't know remember anything about this show, but I think I can help you a bit. My Mom told me when I was a kid, that when you pour boiling water into a glass for tea, to put a spoon in the glass, so that it doesn't break. The metal spoon absorbs some of the heat from the boiling water and so protects the glass. So that's what Gidget's line means. And I guess the breaking glass was just supposed to be a mystery, to make us wonder if the witch was real.

My life has major plot holes.

Ah-ha! Guess I wouldn't have known because I've been putting boiling water in mugs all my life. Thanks for clearing that up!

And mine does too. :)
