Love and The Single Gidget
I'd like to know what happened to the stars that made this episode? The guy who
was paid to watch over Gidget?
I loved this episode, in fact it's my favorite!

I don't know what happened to the actor who was "paid to watch over Gidget", but I do know what happened to the actor who played Richie Ryan in that particular episode. David Macklin is a good friend of mine. He lives in New Mexico. If you contact him, he will answer as he loves to hear from fans. www.davidmacklin.com. You may also view clips from this show on his website.
shareI always liked David Macklin. Glad to know he has a website and is doing well.

Did anyone notice a very young Ron Rifkin (cast member on the recent ABC series "Brothers & Sisters") was also in this episode of Gidget? I couldn't wait for the credits to check and, sure enough, that's who it was!
shareI am just now seeing this post. I have been watching some Gidget's withe my 14-year old grandaughter - she likes them! This was a cute episode. And the "guy" was Carl Reindel! I never knew he did anythihg like this - mostly westerns and war/action stuff. He died a few years ago - and he was like in his early 70's - dosen't seem possible!
..."And I never knew a young'un that DIDN'T KNOW IT ALL!!
I was very young when this show first aired, I do not remember it at all and am just loving watching it now.
I have not seen the episode you are talking about, "Love and the Single Gidget" but the episode guide says it is about her older sister hiring a someone to watch over Gidget while she went to a surfing tournament. According to the guide, there was an actor named Pete Duel in the episode, he played someone named John Cooper. Peter Duel went on to play in a great show a few years later called 'Alias Smith & Jones', which my sister and I loved. He committed suicide in the early 70's. From what I remember reading once, he had a drinking problem & was depressed over slipping ratings of his own show. It was very sad, he was so handsome!
ETA: Just realized that Pete Duel played Gidget's brother in law, I did not realize that was him, totally different look than in the other show I remember him from!
To err is human, to forgive, canine. Unknown
Sad about Pete Duel.Such a good actor
