Absolutely!

Could make for an interesting movie, for sure. My only fear is that there was just so much charm in the original that a remake with contemporary stories and themes would probably destroy the magic for me. I was so engaged by its simplicity and charm that trying to make it contemporary would maybe blow it for me.

Other than Sally Field, it'd probably be a pretty slim reunion.

Prof. Lawrence (Don Porter): Dead
John (Peter Deuel/Duel): Dead
Anne (Betty Conner): Out of the business since this show (43 years)
Larue (Lynette Winter): Out of the business for 39 years

Now if you could round up Richard Dreyfus, Barbara Hershey, Bonnie Franklin, Daniel J. Travanti and Martin Milner that might be kind of interesting in a weird way.

Call it "Gidget Goes Geriatric"

Sure, Why not? Many other TV shows have reunions, so why not Gidget? I think it would be awesome. Sally still looks great and it would be a sort of payback for cancellation of this family show that even today still touches the lives of so many. Although I was not around in the 60s, I watched the re-runs in the 80s and I always felt a bit cheated that Gidget only lasted one season.

Oh boy, would I!!! I loved Gidget. When ever I see Sally Field in anything, I think of Gidget. The theme song should be in it too. Anyone who hasn't seen it (and has read this far into her page) should rent the original series. You'll love it.

Of course I would watch it...but sadly (besides the loss of the main actors)...Reunion shows always seem so hollow...there never seems to be a good storyline and it almost destroys the illusion of the characters being young forever...

Ha ha! You're a riot!

I'd definitely watch it (if only out of morbid curiosity).

Five years later add Bonnie Franklin and Martin Milner to the deceased list.

Gidget would be about 70 now with great grandchildren.

BTW What 70 year old Grandmother would be called Gidget??
