The color on Gidget is so brilliant!

I love the look of the color film used on some of the mid 60's TV shows! Sometimes I wish the Munsters have been filmed in color. I'd love to see those freaks in lurid color.

That is one thing that has always amazed me about this show is how
brilliant the color is and how clear and crisp the prints are.

I just bought Gidget on DVD and some of the scenes like in the first episode when Gidget and Larue are driving to the beach in a brand new 65 red mustang looks almost like it was filmed yesterday.

I recommend this show to everyone.

I don't know if this belongs on this particular board, but if you want to see the Munsters in lurid color, look no further than "Munsters, Go Home!" Assuming, that is, you can find it anywhere.

Antenna TV has primo prints that had to have come off the masters.

This show was color one full year before all the networks went to color in the fall of 1966. Yes Columbia had great color!

LOL Antenna-TV is still running this every weekend. What a feat for a one season show.

Gidget was not the only show in 65 that was in color.

I wish all shows had the color they used in the '60s! Even the Westerns, everything is so bright and well-lit. Maybe not "realistic," but a joy to behold!

If I'm not mistaken, they used Kodachrome 64 back then, and Kodachrome transparencies are known for their vivid (many would say exaggerated) color and sharpness. Years ago, I used Kodachrome 25 exclusively with my 35mm cameras and no film has ever been sharper or had more vibrant color.
