I've often looked on Gidget and Larue as classmates I was never lucky enough to really meet, only to watch from a distance. The chemistry between them was marvelous, and Larue was an excellent actress. I loved Gidget, but I also really liked Larue...
She rates her own board on imdb, though there are only two threads on it. One post at least purports to give quite a bit of detail about "what happened to her," but I have no idea if it's accurate or not (then again, it at least doesn't sound imaginary).
johnston.scot: Thank you. The last time I checked there, I'm not sure how much there was, but it wasn't even that much...and very discouraging. Thanks again.
At times I thought of Lucy and Ethel type of chemistry. I wish Gidget had a chance to run much longer than one season. I think it would have been funny to see Gidget and Larue get into the funny kind of trouble.
I thought she was hilarious. That pilot/1st episode where she wars that big outfit and that huge hat and falls down the hill tumbling down onto Sally really cracked me up. She looks like she was great at physical comedy.
Not to be impertinent or irrelevant, but Lynette Winter was also one of HAYLEY MILLS's tent mates at Camp Inch in "THE PARENT TRAP" (Ursula?); the one who helped Haley Mills cut the skirt of Hayley Mills' dress, and the one who - sitting by Hayley Mills at the lake on the pier, tipped Hayley Mills (in a canoe) into the lake. The girls were always compared - favorably or not - with Lucy and Ethel (like all girl comedy teams) but the new video techniques made them unique and took them along for that ride. The girl teams who came after them owed as much to Sally Field and Lynette Winter (less stage bound, and maybe even more!) as to Lucy and Ethel. Don't forger Susan St. James and Jane Curtin ("Kate And Allie" and "How To Beat The High Cost of Living")... I was surprised that Sally Field and Lynette Winter were never re-teamed, they seemed so natural together. Like the fruit of trees growing wild, they helped raise up a newer forest...
Lynette Winter also had a recurring role as Henrietta Plout (Daughter of Selma Plout) on Petticoat Junction and one of her earliest and most heart-warming roles was a Agnes Maypole, Little Luke's date to a school dance on The Real McCoys
