George Reeves wore one in the 1950's Superman. Alan Hale Junior wore one in Gilligan's island. His had been his family for generations... he inherited it from his father. I recently noticed a character wearing one in an episode of Ellery Queen. That show took place in 1946, but went on the air in 1975.
How sad, that you were not born in my time, nor I, in yours.
