Hymie...plus Don's daughter died of cancer, so sad!

Hey folks...
We're watching Season 2 and it starts out with the Episode where Hymie (the robot, played by the fabulous Dick Gautier) gets programmed by KAOS to kill the Chief, and then Max. I couldn't help wondering why Dick hadn't become a bigger star. He was gorgeous, talented, and had flawless comic timing. What a delight. I went to his website and he sure seems happy...apparently he's a celebrated cartoonist, does caricatures...maybe he didn't want to become a huge star! Anyway, we think he's great and wondered if there were any other DG fans out there.

Also I just read about Don's daughter Cecily Adam's death of lung cancer in 2004, a year before her father died. So tragic. Cecily was quite a comedian in her own right, and, among other things, had a recurring part as a Ferengi on Deep Space 9. A good friend of hers hosts a website to honor her life and memory, it's really beautiful, it will remind you of what's really important in life. I went to it and read extensively and was crying. Cecily was incredibly loved and an amazing person. You can get to the site from a link on her Wikipedia page.

Best of luck to all!
Cheers!

It must have been incredibly hard on Don Adams for his daughter to die before him. That just isn't supposed to happen.

No, it isn't. My brother died when he was 29 and my mom was 53. two years older than I am now. I think it aged my mom five years overnight.

I second that, my Uncle died in his 50's and it's what killed my Grandpa. Losing a child before their time is a pain that never leaves you.

Try not to take life too seriously, no one gets out alive.

She died of lung cancer in March 2004 (and a nonsmoker, from everything I've heard), exactly a year and a half before Don Adams passed away. Sad.

Apparently his health declined rapidly after his daughter's passing and that is not surprising.
