This episode (1967) was almost an exact copy of a story on The Rifleman (1961). The other one was called The High Country.

It wasn't uncommon to see similar storylines being used in other shows. Michael Landon rehashed several Bonanza episodes for Little House on the Prairie episodes.

I liked Journey into Violence because of Quentin Dean's acting. It really wasn't that close to High Country as no one fell in love with Lucas, just Claire who wanted a kiss. Also the group or cult in Journey was a lot more corrupt but devout. Calling each other brother. I do see how the story line was similar.

I loved all the episodes with Bruce Dern especially Four Days to Furnace Hill.
