so is she referring to Jarrod, Nick and Heath or Jarrod, Nick and Eugene?

Jarrod, Nick and Heath. After season one, everyone got amnesia and forgot that Eugene had ever existed.

If Eugene's part was going to be insignificant, the writers should have made him a cousin and that way he would not have become the "Chuck" of the Westerns as Chuck was to Happy Days.

Mr Briles had been drafted and as his future was uncertain as to his service he was just given 8 episodes and though he was available for the second season they did not want him back

What's wrong with the name Eugene? It's a perfectly fine name, frequently shortened to 'Gene'.

Even in My 3 Sons, after Mike got married and Ernie was adopted, Steve Douglas always told people he had only 3 sons.
