remake/sequel?

i am a BIG fan of this movie and would love to see it updated. is it one of these flicks that shouldn't be remade or could color and a little more gore/nudity be fun to mix into the already classic horror elements?

Odd, I just posted about the idea of a remake of this on the Cult films forum.

Oh totally cool idea! We could remake it and put in some Limp Bizkit music, and then put in some actress like Jennifer Lopez to be in it, and we could have it really kick butt and sell merchandise! Hell yeah good idea!

statements like this ruin every soo many good classics.

Like which statement? The OP's? or Scytheleppos?
Eitherway..
OK,OK, yeah this could be made completely mondo-bizarro and deranged by todays standards, but I think it was also made that way(ie. strangely) originally. It is indeed an odd film, and perhaps the subject matter was ahead of it's time and perhaps the bizarre-ness or grindhouse aspect could be better portrayed now, I like it the way it is. I don't think it would translate well (especially, or at least not anywhere near as powerfully as the OG) as the underground original.

That dinner ("we are vegetarian") scene always reminds me of "Die, Die, My Darling".

The movie kind of reminded me of House of 1000 Corpses/Devil's Rejects. Strange murderous and family, but don't see what they do as really wrong. It was cool seeing Capt. Spalding when he was really skinny :)

Why remake it?

Spider Baby is fine as is.

They are remaking this. Thank Lionsgate, I'm pretty sure they're the ones putting it out.

I haven't heard about that, but I'm not suprised. Though it's weird though a movie like this would be remade seeing as it's not really well known to the mass.

Remake or not the original will always be a cult classic. The only problem I have with a remake is these movies are becoming a dime a dozen.

I tried doing that once, making every minute count. It gave me a headache- Adrian Monk

I think they're trying to capitalize on the anniversary DVD re-release next Tuesday. Seems the movie is becoming bigger, and rightly so, but this is one I really don't even want to consider being remade.

I think it would be cool if it turned a lot more people onto the original. If they did make one, Sid should definately play Bruno. Don't get me wrong, I absolutly love the original. It was 110% perfect! But if there was one film that I personally would like to remake in homage to an original, it would be Spider Baby. The only person "I" would be comfortable with doing a remake would probably be Rob Zombie. I would be worried that it could mess up the image of the original, but if done well it could be really awesome to see. I haven't heard anything about a remake either, but I have had thoughts of a remake before.

A remake could work.... Ecspecially with a director like Rob Zombie!!

who Do You think they Should cast in a remake... Im still Hoping?? sid Haig would get on board for the "Bruno " Role.

I like Spider Baby the way it is, sure it's old but a remake has the potential to ruin it. After all, look at what happened to My Bloody Valentine, Carrie, The Evil Dead and Black Christmas, god knows what might happen to Spider Baby if it were remade. Likely really bad 21st century music, lousy actors and the plot messed around with. I understand where you're coming from, some movies could do with some remakes, but Spider Baby is great on its own, with its almost childish jokes, cool soundtrack, good acting (I doubt anyone could replace Lon Chaney Jr. as Bruno), and original story.

Treachery is the inevitable result of all affairs.
