Released as a widescreen German PAL DVD in Nov. of 2015
A German DVD label that call itself The Film Club has released a PAL DVD of SHOCK TREATMENT. The DVD is in anamorphic widescreen, whereas US TV prints are always panned-and-scanned. The DVD offers the English language audio as an option.
Print quality isn't the best. There are some print scratches and other debris, including a slightly shaky opening credit sequence (I'm assuming that Fox didn't use shaky credits deliberately, but I'm not certain of that). No restoration work has apparently been done, and since the credits are in German, this may have been struck from a German 35MM theatrical print.
If you're a fan of this film, this is a good buy, since the film is so difficult to see in widescreen. I'd still like to see a US DVD company like Twilight Time remaster or restore the film.
