It felt quite french new wavy at times.

the camera movements, the extremely artificial acting, the use of source music, it reminded me some times of ELEVATOR TO THE GALLOWS and even to A BOUT DE SOUFFLE.

P.S. Soylent Green is people.

Dig the signature. :)

Personally, I think I have too much bloom. Maybe that's the trouble with me.

Yes, it's what I love about it. It's a classic British film noir and the French new-wave style has been used in films since but this was probably one of the first I can remember to adopt that cinematic style.
If it was made in France I think an obvious actor to have used would've been Alain Delon.

Alain Delon? Are you serious? Assuming you mean Billy, he would have been totally wrong for that role in EVERY aspect. Also, this is certainly not a film noir.

Furthermore, the French new wave was not a "cinematic style" but an approach to making and thinking about film that gave rise to many different filmmakers all of whom had individual styles.

Oh dear.
