The Albert Finney version or the Robert Montgomery one

Right now I am watching the 1937 version of Night Must Fall with Robert Montgomery. I have seen the Finney version years ago and also quite recently. Finney is amazing. So far I don't see Montgomery as very frightening. We shall see as the film moves on. However, as I remember, Finney frightened me from the beginning. He is quite an actor !

Wow, I just realised they were the same movie - I saw the Robert Montgomery version a while back but the Albert Finney version was more 'theatrical' to say the least. I liked both but they seem like totally different movies to me, even though the story was the same.

I prefer Robert Montgomery's sinister charm than Albert Finney's in your face portrayal. In the 1937 there is more to think about whether the character is able to be a psycho.. With Albert Finney there is too much certainty what the character is all about.
