I've always enjoyed this movie, but the one thing that always makes me cringe is Marnie's overuse of "mama". Maybe it's the way Tippi says it, but it's annoying (to me). Other than that, this is one of my favorite Hitchcock films (with Psycho being my all time favorite).

shareI agree that the child talk was necessary. It might have annoyed me normally otherwise. I was a little concerned that the regression came so easily to her in the reveal scene. In her nightmare scenes perhaps she would have. But the 'bullying' by Sean Connery in the reveal created the same just as easy.
shareTraumatized people sometimes get stuck at the age where the trauma happened. It prevents them from growing up and maturing.
