Good question. I own this movie and always thought that the ending was inserted from another "movie reel" since it is in black and white and looked like it was from another time. This show is so adorable and several members of my family have also LOVED it.
It´s most likely to be Paula Prentiss and Rock Hudson in make- up at the end of the movie.
shareNo, definitely not Prentiss and Hudson.
shareMaybe there is more footage or another sequence with these two models, cut from the final edition. The film was longer than what was finally released.
shareI've always been puzzled by this scene too. It looks like a modern recreation of a scene from a silent movie with Theda Bara and Rudolf Valentino, except then they talk. Maybe it's an inside joke or a reference to another movie that was out at the time. I guess we'll never know.
shareI don't know anything about the actors, but the scene is clearly a reference to a comedy record by Stan Freberg that was a hit in 1951 called "John and Marsha". You can find it on youtube. It's a parody of the music and dialogue in movie/tv/radio love scenes.
shareWho were the couple at the end of this film who were kissing in a black & white filmed sequence? "MARCIA" and "JOHN" do the dialog "John, you shouldn't have done that." "Why not, Marcia?"... The only place the name Marcia is used is there, credited as Kathie Browne. I didn't see "John" listed while coming here, but "MARCIA/Kathie Browne" is at the end of the first, short cast list...

Looks like you beat me to it. I found this DVD in the $1 bin at Walgreens and thought I'd give it a look. I recognized Marcia/Kathie Browne as a woman in a Star Trek episode I had a crush on many years ago in my youth.
shareI recognized Marcia/Kathie Browne as a woman in a Star Trek episode I had a crush on many years ago in my youth." Me to, but I have the VHS edition. There is a lot on Kathie Browne's IMDb board, she was very popular for a while, and I never understood why she never really "broke out" to full stardom.
