What in the Actual Heck WAS that thing?

In the scene in which Mr. Limpet is fantasizing about being a hero, an aircraft shaped like a manta ray is shown, cutting to a cartoon manta ray hitting Mr. Limpet. This film was made in 1964 and is set some twenty years earlier! Since when did stealth fighter planes exist during World War II or even when the film was made? They weren't around until the early 1980s!

Of course, nowadays when I see a person in a film made or set in the 1940s or 1950s holding a clipboard or looking at a framed photograph (the object shown from the back as the person is holding or looking at it) I ask, "What is that old-timer from back in the day doing holding a tablet device?" so don't mind me, just curious.

Horten Ho 229, there were a lot of prototypes of advanced weapons in WWII. At the Dayton Air & Space museum there is a German air-to-air missile called the Ruhrstahl X-4.

Thanks, presumably they either used a clip from color war footage or of someone flying a vintage plane but it sure looked space age! When stealth fighters first appeared they were often mistaken for UFOs as no one had seen anything like them.
