Anyone else think Charlotte's father was just a little TOO interested in her?
sharenot really. i think it was more of protection than anything. he wanted to make sure that she got the right man, who wasn't going to go ga ga over the money more than his daughter.

He most definitely was. I've seen many people say they think it was an incestuous relationship, or a near-incestuous one. I don't really think so but I also don't believe he wanted the right man for his Charlotte. Even after his death, a year or so after the events of the party, he still had it his way. I doubt ANY man would have been good enough for her in his eyes.
