Go watch "Help".
shareSpeaking as someone who actually grew up in this era, I have to say that I've never understood why this movie was made in black and white. I can only assume it was a money saving move, and that the studio didn't care about the film itself. It was very rare at that time for a movie to be made in black and white, and it seems very anachronistic and out of place. People are saying "it was a film of its time," but a film of its time would have been made in color. Black and white was a misstep here, and mars what is otherwise a good film.
sharePerhaps not in america, but there were still black and white films being made here in the early 60s. Night of the iguana for exmple was another black and white film of 1964.
shareI've seen samples of colorized versions on You Tube and it looks great!
shareNO!!!! Never
shareIt is the black and white, documentary look of this film that keeps it timeless, while Help! looks dated. The films are a year apart, but the boys look 10 years older. There is no reason to color this film.
It is not our abilities that show who we truly are...it is our choices
Definitely stick with black and white. The early days of Beatlemania, and the greyness of England ... it was a black and white climate.
But I disagree about HELP! -- this was a wild and zany "James Bond spoof", and the only way to go for this one was Color.
Watched this film yesterday (again) and the editing, cinematography, lighting....good gawd who would mess with this? Its beautiful.
shareNo
Its a film of its time and I would hate to see it colourised.
Its that man again!!
People diss HELP way too much. It's a fine, goofy movie and sums up the fun and goofiness that the 4 moptops generated. And it's very innovative. I find it much more watchable than AHDN. The Monkees was based on this movie and Monty Python took a stack of ideas from it too. I know The Goons humour were a good source for the movie, but it is still very underrated by critics and many Beatl fans.
shareNO.
Human Rights: Know Them, Demand Them, Defend Them
No. It is perfect as it is, doesn't need colouring,
shareDeath to imbeciles!
shareI can't imagine the Beatles in their suits and ties in color. Except for that Shea Stadium concert. I just don't think any footage of them before the Sgt. Pepper album should ever be colorized. I'm not necessarily a fan of the Beatles, but it just seems wrong to do that to them.
