Region 2 DVD

I'm watching the DVD. Does anyone know why it's in 4:3 and not widescreen? Surely in this day and age when most people have widescreen TV's it makes more sense to release films in that format?

Because it's a British DVD. The German Koch Media one is widescreen, and Region 2, but despite the so-called single European market will not be for sale in UK shops or UK-based online retailers. But you can pre-order it from Amazon in Germany, amazon.de (out February 22, along with "Kiss of the Vampire"). "Brides of Dracula" and "Curse of the Werewolf" are already available...

The only truly reliable British DVD label (like Criterion in the US) is BFI, er, IMHO...
