I agree although people don't. Its the most sympathetic portral of Framkemstein that Hammer did. Compare this with Framkenstein in the later Hammer horror Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed where he is portrayed as a callous killer and rapist.
I like the plethora of laboratory scenes in Evil with sparks flying everywhere (Frankenstein might have been a genius in biology but he was obviously hopeless at wiring a plug and socket).
Also the explosion which finally brings down the castle was memorable - curtesy of Les Bowie spx dept.
All the actors were fine - Cushing, Peter Woodthorpe, Katie Wild, Sandor Elwes and Hammer regular Duncun Lamont - as was the guy who played the monster Kiwi Kingston.
The only real letdown in the film was the - quite frankly - dreadful monster makeup. Apart from that it was a highly enjoyable entry in the series.
