Now on dvd!
This film was banned for decades in Argentina, after its original release in 1965. Today, the film is available uncut, just as Director Favio had brought the film to the big screen.
Some claim that the film was banned due to the depiction of a brutal state-run orphanage. Others claim it was banned due to a scene in which the young boy strikes back against his oppressor. And others still, claim it was banned due to a lengthy river scene in the middle of the film in which the young characters are without clothing.
Regardless of the reason for this film's banishment by the Argentine government, today it is available on region-free dvd, which includes scene selection.... as well as optional english sub-titles.
A definite must-have for the dvd collection.
