I agree, I liked it a lot more the 2nd time I watched it. Richard Burton’s really grown on me as an actor.

It was a nice production but the castle scenes were too unrealistic and, typically, stagey. Along with the costumes being rather elaborate. It is interesting to see Hollywood mature when only 3yrs later they elevated to realism with The Lion In Winter (1967). Which was much grittier in appearance and the dialogue is perhaps one of the best ever written.
Still, for the best British Invasion period movies I have to go with A Man For All Seasons (1966).
