The badge numbers
Is there is significance to each agents badge number? Solo is 11, but I think Kieran is 2 or somethin, and the boss something else
shareProducers allowed Vaughn and McCallum to pick their own badges. Unfortunately for Vaughn, he chose 11 because he thought it was the roman numeral 2; Mr. Waverly would've been #1 in the organization, so it made sense. This left the #2 badge which McCallum happily picked for himself and that was it.

shareYes, I imagine he was probably wishing he'd taken the one McCallum got- and as series lead, Vaughn probably could've insisted they switch. However, from reading about him over the years RV doesn't seem to have ever been one of those insecure, demanding actors like certain others we've read about.
shareIf you want an in-universe explanation for the badge numbers, it is possible that when Solo joined U.N.C.L.E., badges 2 through 10 were already in use by somebody else. Later, when Kuryakin joined, the holder of badge 2 had retired or been killed in action and the number was available.
When I first worked at an accountancy firm, the senior partner had the staff number '9' but the three more junior partners had the numbers '4', '5' and '1' for precisely that reason*
(* predecessors having retired, rather than been killed. Accountancy is a dull profession)
