when did the color shows begin?

I've been waiting for the Gomer shows to finally come out on DVD but I find I'm only interested in the B&W ones. Can someone who has bought the whole set tell me in which season they started the color ones?

Season 1 was comprised of B&W shows. From Season 2 on, the shows were in color.

Thanks for the info. I always thought the B&W episodes were the funniest, so I'll probably get season 1 for Xmas and leave it at that.

My family has been watching Season 2, and some of the shows are outstanding, imho. In one of the shows we watched tonight, Opie Taylor (from Mayberry) showed up for a surprise visit - it was neat seeing his red hair in color. I think it was on Disc 5. We've seen some other good ones, too. To me, the color adds a lot to the shows.

there were great episodes in each of the 5 seasons of Gomer. I can remember laughing a particular episode from every single season. It never really lost its charm over the 5 seasons it was on the air.
