Question about extra actor

Does anyone out there in Gomerland know anything about the short, Asian guy with black horn rimmed glasses who was in the platoon, yet was never credited and never had a spoken line? He was in countless episodes and I'm sure everyone spotted him. I believe that Carter only addressed him one time as "you", this in the episode where Gomer captures the submarine. Whoever he was,he had a sweet gig, I wondered what he got paid for just hanging around in a Marine uniform?

Just saw an episode where a lot of Gomer's barrack buddies are sitting around and Gomer says something like "Whoever gets picked will get 1 week off work" and Duke ask "Where'd you hear that?" and Gomer says that one of the other guys told him and Duke asks that guy and the guys says this other guy told me, and they go around the whole barracks and each guys gets a line. Finally the Asian actor in question, who Gomer calls "Larry" gets a line. He is credited in the end credits as Larry: Ben Wong
