Questions About An Ep?

There is one particular episode of "Gomer Pyle: USMC"
that stands out after many years. Can anybody please
identify the episode title and season?

In the storyline Gomer's unit is participating in
a war games exercise. Gomer Pyle is "captured"
by the opposing Marine squad. And brought to see
a doctor for a check up. The naval doc leaves
momentarily and Gomer sees the doc's service
dress whites uniform hanging in the office. He
puts on the whites and fools the guard outside
into thinking that the "prisoner" has escaped.
Gomer then steals a nearby parked jeep with
an M50 caliber machine gun mounted on the hood.
He then drives back to the area where he had
been taken prisoner. And upon seeing Gomer Pyle,
one NCO of the "enemy unit" asks the other,
what's a navy commander doing here? That's
because of Gomer being dressed in the doctor's
uniform with the rank insignia of a navy commander.
And upon seeing the two NCOS, Gomer takes hold
of the machine gun and points the weapon at the
two men. Ordering them to drop their weapons and
surrender. He even shouts "that's an order sergeant."
A very hilarious moment in a very funny episode.
One that I watched many years ago.

It's one of the funniest episodes too!

I love "The Secret Life of Gomer Pyle"; "Survival of the Fattest"; "Gomer Captures a Submarine"; "Sergeant Iago".

In every episode Carter is ready to kill Pyle but somehow Pyle manages to save the day. The facial expressions Carter makes when he's angry at Pyle are so hilarious!

Yeah, those are all great episodes too. I like them all, it's an excellent show and one of my favorites.

My only two problems with it is it ended too early (not really a problem per se, it's better to end while still good, but the show felt like it had enough left for a couple more seasons), and the show lost a little something without Slater and Boyle. There was enough cast left and good stories to keep the 4th season entertaining, but there was still a little something missing without Slater. Also I feel writing Boyle out of the show was a mistake, he was a great character too and Slater was better as a private.

I agree. It could have lasted at least another year. Boyle was one of my favorite characters. Slater was funny too. Both felt sorry for Gomer and tried to save him from Carter's wrath. I think Sgt. Carter make the show. Frank Sutton was a wonderful actor and played Carter brilliantly! And he was born in my state of Tennessee!
