Sgt. Carter's Cars

Sgt. Carter surely had a lot of different cars. Remember the red one, looked like a late '50s Plymouth or DeSoto. That was the one the big wrecking ball fell on. Then the owner of the construction company gave him a new Dodge. And then it looked like he had another red car from the late '50s when Gomer won the boat and they were towing it to the ocean. And then it looked like a blue mid '50s car, a Dodge that the brakes went out on and Gomer wrecked while bringing Bonnie the stuff for some kind of charity bazaar. Ummm, and one of the black and white episodes Sgt. Carter had a convertible. That was the episode where they had to bring another marine's baby to the doctor's office and then run all kind of errands. And then when Sgt. Carter was gonna sell his car to Hacker, but sold it to Gomer instead because Hacker didn't have the money it was a different blue convertible.

The red and white car that the wrecking ball fell on was a 1960 Dodge Dart. Very nice looking car. In the script Gomer and the police Sgt. refer to it as a "1961" Dodge but it is in fact a 1960 which had many distinct differences from a 1961.

I knew it was some sort of Chrysler product. I've always liked those old Chryslers, Plymouths, Dodges and DeSotos and of course those huge Imperials. Of course gas was as cheap as water at that time. Apparently, Sgt. Carter was partial to Mopar too. It seemed he had a different car every time he was shown with a vehicle....LOL.
