Great ratings for the show. Why did it end?
I have a book "The Complete Directory to Prime Time Network and Cable TV Shows, 1946-Present"that lists yearly rating for shows. This show was # 3 year one, # 2 year two, # 10 year three, # 3 year four and in it's final season it was the # 2 ranked show for the year. Normally with ratings that high a show doesn't end. Maybe they just ran out of story ideas or Jim Nabors felt he was done?
