The D.I. with Jack Webb
Was Gomer Pyle USMC based on this movie? There are some similarities. One is that Gomer is always getting in Carter's way and in the film, Owens is always getting in Jim Moore's way. Both Carter and Moore are Gunnery Sergeants! Moore is always yelling, though, and if he saw Gomer smile or laugh, he'd really give it to him! I wonder if Jack Webb was a fan of this show?
