I don't know anyone who doesn't know about this show. This and probably Star trek were probably the most recognisible in the world.
This one is even more remarkable, since it only lasted for 2 seasons.
Definitely popular, but don't think it's anywhere near as popular as say.. The Simpsons.

But famous? No.
I agree. It's no lore famous than Twilight zone or Stat Tek or any of the other iconic shows from the 60"s. Not sure what the op was on about. But we will never know. Great show nevertheless.
