A remake directed by David Cronenberg would be awesome

What a flick. An awesome gem of cheap bizarre cinema but plenty of creepy resources, an original plot and sick, effective psychodelic atmosphere. I'm completely agreed with the metaphor of LSD and the effects of hard drugs that some other viewers have mentioned, but also has that unique Croneberg's feeling about the alienation of human being pushing out the limits of science and technology in order to get pleasure or power.

Many years ago I did read that Tim Burton was interested in some kind of remake, with (what a surprise) Johnny Depp in the main role originally portrayed by Ray Milland, but the project never came out to light. I'm against that remake frenzy in the industry today, but this title is a good one which deserves a new, contemporary vision.

On his DVD commentary for this movie, Roger Corman says that this is one of the only movies of his that he'd be interested in remaking, simply because of the advancements in visual effects since '63. So don't count Corman out!
