Promethean parable


I saw this years ago as a kid but remember the basics. Don't know if it was intentional but it seems inspired by the myth of Prometheus with a little Oedipus Rex thrown in. For committing the sin of hubris, the doctor is condemned to torture because he will never be able to rest. At least, not until he plucks out his eyes. Moral of this story is, be careful what you wish for.\

Or maybe I'm just reading way too much into a cheesy sci-fi flick?

I think you made a very good observation.
It didn't occur to me at the time, but then again I was about 19 when I first saw it.

With the benefit of hindsight, it all fits together.

There is also the H.P. Lovecraft theme that if you were to see the way the world really is you would go insane.
