I Don't Get the Walton's Connections

This movie was set in present day 1960 vs the Waltons was set during the Depression. This family lived in Wyoming and the Waltons were in Appalachia. Sure they both had lots of kids and an oldest son, but that's about it. This movie is so much better than the Walton's .

Same creator (Earl Hamner) and based on the same source material. The Waltons actually would have been named The Spencer's, had Warner Bros (which produced the movie) not retained screen rights to that name. Now, through its purchase of Lorimar Television, Warners owns the Waltons, too.

Thanks for sharing that info. I didn't know the same person created both. I don't really hate the Walton's, but I never thought it was the same quality as this film or Little House on the Prairie.

Actually, "The Waltons" is closer to Earl Hamner's story, which was based on his real life story. He grew up in the Blue Ridge Mountains near Charlottesville, Va.

You matter. Unless you divide yourself by the speed of light squared. Then, you energy.
